I'm looking to build a DDR4 gaming PC and I'm curious if the Ryzen 5 5500 along with the RTX 5060 8GB is a solid combination. My cousin suggested I ask around to get some opinions before I make my final decision. Any insights would be appreciated!

If you can, I’d recommend going for a Ryzen 5600X instead. It would provide better performance, and then you could upgrade to a 5800X3D down the line once you have more options available with the AM5 platform.
When you mention a "good combo for a DDR4 gaming PC," that really depends on what you’re aiming for. The Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 5060 are decent for 1080p gaming at 60-144Hz, especially for esports titles. However, for higher resolutions or frame rates beyond 144Hz, you might want to consider different components.
If you're sticking to a budget, the 5500 and 5060 will work, but you won't have PCIe 4 support. If you haven't bought the CPU yet, I'd suggest at least getting the 5600; it's only a bit more and will enhance your performance.
This combo isn't the best. If you haven't bought those parts yet, there are definitely better options out there. Having an 8GB GPU and a CPU that’s somewhat older doesn't seem worth it in 2025.
The Ryzen 5 5500 doesn't support PCIe 4, which can affect performance when paired with the RTX 5060. Some games, like Spider-Man 2, may see a performance drop of around 10%.
