I'm considering upgrading to the Ryzen 5700X3D, mainly because I'm looking for better FPS in Escape from Tarkov. I currently have an AM4 motherboard, and I know switching to AM5 would mean additional expenses for DDR5 RAM and other components. Is it worth spending around 300-400 euros on the 5700X3D, or should I look at other options? Right now, I have a Ryzen 5 3600.

Only go for the 5700X3D if you can snag it used at a decent price. It’s tough to justify the brand new price with what’s available now. At that range, the 7800X3D is a much better deal and even a bit over 400 euros, the 9800X3D looks good too. If you want to save some cash, consider a non-X3D option like the 5600X. You could even find a 5500X3D at a bargain if you look on AliExpress.
Honestly, at that price, it’s not the best choice. You'd still see a nice performance boost getting a 5600 or a 5700. I upgraded from a Ryzen 3600 to a 5600X not too long ago, and it made a big difference in most games, including FPS-heavy ones.
I managed to get mine for $180 back in December 2024, so if you can find a bargain like that, it could be worth it. Right now though, with everything priced around 400 euros, it’s really shaky.
For the current market trends, I'd say 300 euros might be a shaky yes. But at 400 euros? Definitely not worth it.
