I'm trying to decide whether I should upgrade my existing PC or build a new one. I have a budget of around $450 to $600. Currently, my setup includes a Ryzen 3200G processor, a Gigabyte B450M-H motherboard with 2 RAM slots, 16GB (2x8GB) of CL22 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, a 256GB M.2 SSD, no dedicated GPU (just using Vega 8), a 450W power supply, and a 1TB HDD. What would be the best course of action for enhanced performance?

First things first, what are you planning to use the PC for? If your goal is to game at 1080p, an upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600 and a dedicated GPU like the RX 6600 would do wonders! Make sure to check if your motherboard supports the new CPU though—it might need a BIOS update or could be incompatible overall. If you don't mind buying used, that's a decent way to save some cash too!

Totally agree on that! Plus, if you're really looking to boost performance, consider getting a better power supply for stability once you add a GPU.

I’m mainly looking to run games like Valorant and Fortnite, maybe RDR2. Would a 6600 do well for those?

It's a tough time for building, but I suggest maximizing your current components. Pick up a used GPU, like a 2060 or 3060, and upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600. Don’t forget about getting a better cooling solution if you decide to go with a more powerful CPU. You might find building new afterward is a better option then when prices stabilize.

Sounds pricey, but what if I sell off some old components? Would that help me get a GPU?

Absolutely! Selling your old parts can help offset costs significantly.

Honestly, if you can stretch your budget a bit, you might want to hold off on a full build. Upgrading your CPU and adding a GPU is where you’ll see the most significant gains. Try for a Ryzen 7 5700 or an RX 7600. You could also get a larger SSD for your games. Staying with your current setup for a bit longer and upgrading parts could be more cost-effective than starting fresh.

That's solid advice! But what if I need extra storage soon? My HDD is on its last legs.

You can pick up a decent NVMe drive without breaking the bank, so don't worry too much about storage right now.
