Is the Ryzen 5700X3D Upgrade Worth It for My Gaming Setup?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 5600X with 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz and an RTX 5070, mainly playing games at 1440p. I came across a Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor for $300, which seems like a good deal compared to the high prices of DDR5 RAM around my area. I'm contemplating if upgrading my CPU now would help me out, especially since I experience performance drops in busy game areas. I'm thinking about this upgrade to hopefully sustain my system until at least the release of The Witcher 4. With RAM prices still high, I don't want to miss the chance to get a new processor before they sell out. What do you all think?

I'd say buy it while you can. In a year, you might find it harder to get a decent CPU, and DDR5 will likely be even pricier at that point.

Even when RAM prices were lower, $300 for the 5700X3D wasn't seen as a great deal. Just because it's cheaper than a full AM5 build doesn't mean it's worth it. You could wait for more affordability a couple of years from now and get a better deal then.

Yes, it would be an upgrade, but is it worth $300? Probably not. You might find more value in saving up for a bigger jump later.

You're right about the 5600X showing its age in more demanding games, especially titles like Cyberpunk. If you notice consistent drops in performance, making the upgrade could prove beneficial. If $300 is a standard price where you are, it sounds like a solid decision. I've regretted waiting too long on upgrades myself.

If you have no plans to move to AM5 in the next few years, it might be a good idea to grab that CPU now before prices climb any higher, especially with the RAM situation.

Honestly, I wouldn't stress about this upgrade right now. While the 5700X3D is definitely an improvement, it might not be necessary for your current setup.

I get where you're coming from. I'm in a similar situation with a 4070 Ti. Instead of going for the 5700X3D, I opted for a 7800X3D, which was around the same price and seems like a better long-term investment. Plus, I sold my old components to help fund the upgrade.

Honestly, with the same setup and after upgrading from a 3900X to the 5700X3D, I felt the performance boost during CPU-heavy games was worth it. Selling my old CPU helped lessen the overall cost, and I think investing now will help you in the long run, especially if AM5 is too expensive for you now.
