Is the Ryzen 5800X Still a Good Choice for Gaming and Video Editing in 2026?

I'm thinking about upgrading my system and found a Gigabyte B550M K motherboard along with a Ryzen 7 5800X for £100 ($136.50) on Facebook Marketplace. I recently got an RTX 4070 Ti, and I'm looking to replace my Intel i5-9400F. I'm curious if this setup would perform well for both gaming and video editing.

I have a Ryzen 5700X paired with an RX 9070 and it runs smoothly on all games. I reckon the 5800X will also hold its ground for years to come!

Does anyone have insights on how it performs for editing workflows?

I just swapped my 3600XT for a 5800X, and it's been fantastic! I'm gaming at 2K with a 3070, and I’m getting over 200fps in competitive games and it handles Cyberpunk well too. As for video editing, I don't have experience, but for gaming, you're set!

I game at 1440p too, which helps lessen the CPU load, I guess.

You're going to be just fine! I'm using a 5600X with a 5070 Ti at 2K, and it performs great!
