I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600X and I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU. Right now, I'm not in a position to switch to an AM5 platform with DDR5 due to the rising costs of RAM and other components. I've read that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is one of the best CPUs for the AM4 platform, but finding one is a challenge, and the prices seem pretty steep—in the range of £400 to £450. Do you think this upgrade is worth it, or should I save up for a full upgrade to AM5 and DDR5? By the way, I recently upgraded my GPU to a 5060Ti; does that change anything?

Many people suggest that unless you really need the additional power, it isn't worth purchasing the 5800X3D at that price. If you can find the 5500X3D for a decent price, it might be a better alternative considering its recent release. However, if you’re looking to maximize your setup for gaming, focusing on AM5 eventually will give you a much better upgrade path.
I think you're better off looking at the 5700X3D; it offers a great price-to-performance ratio right now. Just keep in mind that spending £400-£450 on a three-year-old CPU feels a bit outrageous, especially when you could save that cash and get a full AM5 upgrade later on. Trust me, you’ll have a more future-proof setup that way.
Honestly, for playing games with a 5060Ti, you might not even need the 5800X3D. If you're not experiencing CPU bottlenecks with your current setup, it's probably a better move to stick with the 5600X for now. It's still a solid CPU that's holding up well.

I agree with you! The numbers don’t lie. Saving up for AM5 will definitely pay off in the long run.
