I often use Can You Run It with my older budget PC built in 2021, and it sometimes suggests I don't meet the recommended specs because I have a Ryzen 5 3600 instead of the 3600X. Should I be concerned about this? What kind of real difference in performance is there between these two CPUs? I know I need an upgrade, but I'm hesitant due to the current volatile market for parts.

The Ryzen 3600 is still a solid choice, especially if you're on a budget. It pairs well with mid-range GPUs like the 9060XT or 5060 Ti. You're not completely out of the loop with it!
The 3600 and 3600X are pretty much the same CPU, with the 3600X just having a slightly higher clock speed. Honestly, if you want a noticeable performance boost, you'd need to look at the 5000 series.
The difference between the 3600 and 3600X is minimal—only a few percent. If you're experiencing real performance issues, it might be cheaper to upgrade to a used 5600 or even 5800XT. Just make sure your motherboard supports the 5000 series and update your BIOS before swapping out the CPU.

I'm still using a GTX 1660 Ti. I feel like I'm stuck in the past with today's tech!
