Is There a Way to Force My ISP to Change My Dynamic IP?

I'm trying to change my public IP address because it has been compromised. I have a dynamic IP through Spectrum, and I've already tried powering off my router for about 12 hours, but my IP remains the same. I contacted my ISP, and they told me they can't change it directly and that swapping out the modem might have a low success rate. They also mentioned that my IP changes on a random timeline. Is there any way to force a change before I get into more trouble? My modem model is EN2251. Thanks for any help!

If your router's power-off trick didn’t work, you might have a more complex situation like CGNAT. Sometimes, providers give you a static address behind a shared network. If that's the case, your ISP would need to help out with a manual change. But, don't hesitate to call them; they can change it if they want to.

Try unplugging your modem and router and leaving them off for at least 24 hours. Sometimes, waiting that long will help reset your connection and lead to a new IP address. Make sure to try this to be safe!

It's important to clarify what you mean by your IP being compromised. Generally, having someone's IP address isn’t a big threat, but if you're concerned about bans or blacklisting, I get it. Just keep in mind that, usually, it's not something people can use to really harm you directly.

Are you sure this isn't just about gaming bans? Sometimes players get paranoid over IPs when it's just a game server issue.

Sounds like your IP could have been flagged somewhere. That could lead to it being compromised, so I get your concern.
