Is There Demand for an Image to SVG Converter?

I'm developing an image to SVG converter that has high performance, utilizing WebAssembly (Wasm) and SIMD. It can decode various image formats like WebP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, APNG, ICO, and BMP efficiently, all implemented in Rust without any external dependencies.

I initially started this project for fun, porting the libwebp-turbo decoder to Rust and then adding more format decoders. It's been in development for over six months, and now I'm wondering if I should monetize it or keep it free. I'm reluctant to set up a payment system if there isn't enough demand. If it turns out there's little interest, I might just let users access it freely through Wasm in the frontend to avoid costly servers. By the way, sorry for any grammar mistakes; English isn't my first language.

There's potential here, especially since many existing tools generate pretty poor results. I've struggled with online converters for CNC work because SVGs are much easier to handle. If you can provide good results, folks will be interested!

Wow, I hadn't thought about the CNC market! That’s a great angle. Feel free to reach out if you need any conversions done — I’d be happy to help for free!

Absolutely! There is definitely a market, but your converter needs to outperform the existing solutions. If you can deliver better quality and performance, then you could make it a viable product!

Good to know! I’m committed to making it superior. I won’t launch until I’m sure it outperforms current options. Appreciate the reassurance!
