I'm building my first PC and just received my parts, but I noticed something strange about the CPU. It looks like it has this weird paste on the front that I haven't seen in most videos. Are those supposed to be covered in something like that? I want to make sure it's not faulty before I start the build. The CPU model is a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I'll try to add an image in the comments if I can figure that out.

It's totally normal! That paste is actually a sealant protecting the surface mount components during shipment. Don’t worry about it—your CPU should be fine.
Normal for 7800X3D. My CPU looked like that too, and it works great. You can check many review sites for confirmation!
You should definitely post a picture if you can! But don’t stress, that white layer is likely a protective coating and not thermal paste. Just ensure it’s not mushy or coming off.
Yeah, it sounds like you're looking at an acrylic resin, which is there to keep dust out. Some may look clear and others a bit opaque. As long as it’s not loose and coming off, you should be good!
Just a heads up, CPUs shouldn’t have any thermal paste on them when they arrive new. If it looks like it has been applied already, it might be a used chip, so keep an eye on that!
