Hey everyone! I'm helping my friend build his first real gaming PC as he switches from his old Xbox One. He just got his first job and has some cash to invest in a proper rig. The main things he'll use it for are gaming (both AAA and esports), watching movies, and some light multitasking. We want it to last a few years and be upgradeable down the line. Here's what we have planned for the build (in Poland):
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7700
- GPU: RX 7700 XT
- RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000
- Mobo: B650 ATX
- SSD: 1TB NVMe Gen4
- PSU: 650W Bronze
- Monitor: Xiaomi G27Q P (1440p, 165Hz)
- Case: something with decent airflow
The total cost will be around $1400. We're aiming for solid 1440p gaming performance, and ideally, we won't need to upgrade core components anytime soon.
So I'm looking for some feedback:
- Are we getting the best value for this build right now?
- Would it be better to downgrade to a Ryzen 5 7600, or should we hold off for newer GPUs like the RX 9600?
- Is there a better monitor out there within this price range?
- Any other suggestions for swaps to get more value?
Thanks in advance for your help!

This build seems great for 1080p, but for 1440p gaming, I’d recommend at least upgrading to a RX 9600 or maybe even a 9070 to avoid bottlenecks.
Definitely invest in a solid PSU! A bad one can lead to serious issues, like damaging your entire setup or even starting a fire. It's better to spend a little more upfront on quality.
You might want to consider getting the Ryzen 5 7600 instead of the 7700. That way, you can save some cash for a better GPU and a quality PSU.
I’d suggest the Ryzen 7600 or 7500F (it’s similar but without integrated graphics). It’s sufficient for any GPU below the 5080 and will free up some money for a better GPU.
And yeah, check out the PSU tier list for reliable options!
