Is This PC Build a Good Choice for Music Production and Gaming?

I'm in the process of building my second PC since my current one is getting a bit outdated at four years old. With sales happening right now, I'm considering a new setup primarily for music production using Ableton, but I also enjoy gaming. I play titles like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and story-based games like Life is Strange and The Last of Us, with some occasional Fortnite. I'm particularly interested in trying out Cyberpunk 2077 as well. I've chosen some parts for a build under $2k USD and would love your feedback on whether this setup is solid or if I should make any swaps. Here's what I've picked out:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 7900X Zen 4 12-core
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG X670 TOMAHAWK AM5
- **GPU:** GIGABYTE WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
- **RAM:** CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB DDR5 (2x16GB)
- **Power Supply:** MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE5
- **CPU Cooler:** MSI MAG Core Liquid A13
- **Case Fans:** LIAN LI UNI SL Infinity 120
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

For around $2k, this build could be optimized more. You could save some cash with a less expensive CPU, double the RAM to 64GB, and definitely get a better GPU, like a 6700 XT or something similar. The 3060 just doesn’t pack the punch for newer games.

This PC is around like $1,800 with the sales going on, but I will keep this in mind and change some things around, thank you.

Honestly, the RTX 3060 is getting a bit dated for high-demand games like The Last of Us. You might want to consider upgrading to a better GPU if you're serious about gaming with this build. It could struggle more with newer titles like Cyberpunk. Just a heads up!

Thank you, I honestly don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to building really, what GPU would you suggest?

If you’re looking for better gaming performance, consider a 7700X or 7950X CPU, and definitely look for a good motherboard to save some cash—aim for a B650 board if you can find it on sale. Also, 32GB of RAM is the minimum for music projects, and a 6700 XT would be a solid GPU choice. You’d want a good PSU at 600W or 750W, too.
