Is upgrading from a 3060 Ti to a RX 9060 XT 16GB a good choice?

I'm considering upgrading my GPU because I'm seeing a significant price drop on AMD cards where I live. Right now, I have an RTX 3060 Ti and I'm worried this move might not be worth it. My last upgrade from a GTX 960 to the 3060 Ti was a huge improvement, and I mainly game at 1440P. I usually play older titles and use DLSS to manage performance. The RX 9060 XT costs around R$2500 (about $486 USD), which is the best I can find here, while the 5060 Ti and 9070 XT are much more expensive. I'm looking for insights on whether this upgrade is worth it and how FSR 4 compares to DLSS.

I'd suggest holding out for the 9070 XT if you can. It's a larger improvement worth considering, but I understand the price concerns where you’re at. But investing in something that’ll last longer could save you in the long run. Maybe keep an eye on sales or price drops? That way you won't feel like you've settled for a smaller bump in performance now when you could get a bigger jump later.

Totally agree! Even just a slight delay might bring better cards into your budget. Plus, the 9060 might not be a huge leap if you're planning on playing older games for a while.

The RX 9060 XT is kind of like a 3070 but with more VRAM at the cost of some bandwidth issues. It isn’t what I'd call a groundbreaking upgrade, but if you can get it within your budget and really need that VRAM for your games at 1440p, it might be alright. Just make sure you don't overlook the PSU requirements since the 9070 XT needs a lot more power! If I were you, I’d either save for a bigger upgrade later or stick with what you have for now.

Good point! The added power requirements could be an issue, especially if you're not planning on upgrading your PSU right away.

The upgrade from a 3060 Ti to a 9060 XT isn't going to bring a massive increase in performance—it's roughly a 22% gain. While you'll probably notice some improvements, especially with higher resolutions due to the extra VRAM, it's not going to feel as dramatic as your last upgrade. If you're content with DLSS, you might just stick with the 3060 Ti for now, especially since NVIDIA is expected to keep supporting it with updates.

Also, considering you've shown interest in games that are more CPU-heavy might mean your current setup can handle them well enough without rushing into an upgrade. Just my two cents!

If you're mainly focused on older titles, I think the 9060 XT could serve you well without breaking the bank. It's not a night-and-day difference from the 3060 Ti, but there’s enough of a bump to make your experience smoother at 1440p. Just focus on how you play; if things are running fine, it might not be worth the hassle of upgrading right now, especially with future titles possibly on your wishlist. You might find that even lower-end options are enough for you!

If you’re playing titles like KCD and Baldur's Gate 3, the 9060 XT will definitely help, but you might also want to consider how much you need that upgrade. Older titles typically won’t become more demanding over time, so unless you're planning on trying out newer games in the future, you might be okay holding onto the 3060 Ti for a bit longer. It’s also worth noting that those games can be CPU intensive, so don't overlook your processor's ability to keep up as well!

Exactly! KCD is particularly tough on CPUs and RAM, so the GPU is just part of the equation. If your CPU can't keep up, you won't fully benefit from the GPU upgrade.
