I'm currently using a 4070 Ti Super with a 5800x3d CPU and playing on a 1440p OLED display. I'm considering whether spending $1000 on a 5080 would be a worthwhile upgrade. I'm also contemplating selling my 4070 Ti Super or keeping it for a living room PC build. What are your thoughts?

The 4070 Ti Super has 16GB of VRAM, right? Honestly, it's a solid card as is, especially with current RAM prices. If RAM wasn't so pricey, I would suggest pairing it with a 9800x3d for a good upgrade, which would be around $699 if you can get it at Micro Center.
For 1440p gaming? I would say it might not be worth it. You're looking at a 26% increase in power consumption, same VRAM as the 4070 Ti Super, and maybe a 10-15% performance boost if you're already getting solid FPS with your current setup. For $1000, I'd say it feels a bit underwhelming. Selling the 4070 Ti Super could change the game though; you might end up only spending around $200 on the upgrade if you can get roughly $800 for it.
$800? I didn't think they'd still fetch that much used given the price drops on new cards like the 5070 Ti.
I was under the impression that the price for used ones would have dropped to around $500 by now.
I made the switch from a 4070 Ti Super to a 5080 myself. Just a heads up, I also upgraded my CPU to a 7800x3d simultaneously, so a lot of the performance boost came from that. But yeah, the difference was quite significant!
That sounds promising! I have a 5800x3d, so I doubt my improvement would be as drastic. But looking at benchmarks, the 1% lows on the 5080 seem almost equal to the average frame rates of my 4070 Ti Super at 1440p.
I think you should hold off for the next generation or at least wait for the Super versions to drop. The prices tend to be pretty inflated right after launch.
I understand that, but I'm not a fan of jumping on new GPUs right away either. The launch prices usually settle down after a few months, which is why I'm looking at the 5080 now since I can find it at its retail price of $1000.

I thought about that, but honestly, I doubt the performance improvement would justify it unless I get a better GPU overall.
