Is Upgrading from a 5600X to a 5700X Worth It?

I'm considering an upgrade from my Ryzen 5 5600X to a 5700X. But I'm also wondering if it might be better to hold out for AM5 in a couple of years. I currently game with an RTX 3080 at 1440p resolution, and I'm curious if the performance boost would be significant enough to justify the cost right now. What do you all think?

I would recommend saving up for AM5 instead. The difference in gaming performance between the 5600X and most other non-X3D Ryzen 5000 chips is minimal—around 2%. Go for a future-proof setup.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll start saving for AM5; it seems like the smarter long-term choice.

Right now, you're set for a while. If you can wait a few more months, new AMD CPUs will be dropping, and you might scoop up some decent deals on the 7800X3D or 9800X3D when they do!

If you're eyeing the 5700X3D, it's a slight upgrade, especially for those low performance dips, but honestly, most of the Ryzen 5000 series performs similarly in gaming. Just get one if it fits your budget and you find one used.

Honestly, I was planning to stick with AM4 for a while myself, but I ended up switching to AM5 with a 9800X3D after a friend bought my old setup. AM4 is still good, but new CPUs will definitely take you further in the long run.

Interesting! I'm not in a rush, maybe I'll just wait it out too.

I've seen some charts that show the performance difference isn't really worth the cost. If you're set on upgrading, the 5700X3D might be the better choice, but keep in mind it can get pricey.

Totally agree! It seems like the extra cash would be better spent on AM5 or a future upgrade. I’d wait a bit more too.

Thanks for the insight! It looks like my options are either the 5800X3D or moving to AM5.
