I'm considering upgrading my GTX 780 to an RX 6600 or RX 6600 XT. I don't care much about ray tracing, so that won't influence my decision. My CPU is a 12th gen Intel Core i5-12400. Should I go for the upgrade now, or wait until I can afford something even better? Also, is it worth the extra cost for the 6600 XT?

The RX 6600 is definitely a big step up from the GTX 780, and your i5-12400 can handle it without any issues. As for whether to get the 6600 XT, that really depends on your budget and how much extra you're looking to spend. If the price difference is about $100, you should consider if the performance gap justifies that cost for you.
So basically, if the gap is worth it for just a few extra frames, I might want to go for the XT?
