I'm mainly focused on gaming at 1440p with a 144Hz refresh rate. I was initially going to go for a 5070TI, but I've switched my choice to a 9070 XT instead. I planned to keep my i5-13600k since I heard it pairs well with the 9070XT. However, I've come across a great deal on a new i9-14900k. After looking at benchmarks, I've noticed a significant difference in FPS between the two CPUs. Should I make the upgrade? Just to note, switching to an AMD CPU isn't an option for me due to budget limitations; it has to be Intel if I change my CPU.

If you're using DDR4, going for the i9 feels like throwing money away. Even with DDR5, the performance increase isn't substantial enough to warrant the upgrade.
Honestly, the price for the i9-14900k is pretty steep, with only about a 13% boost in CPU-limited games. You might be better off sticking with the 13600K. You could overclock it and tune the RAM to close the performance gap more than you'd expect.
The i9-14900k does have a reputation for overheating. Intel released several microcode patches to address this, but they've never fully confirmed the issues are resolved. I think you should steer clear of it.
True, but the i5-13600k doesn't fare much better either. There's also the potential for early oxidation problems with some of those chips.
I thought those overheating issues had been mostly resolved by now.
If you're all about gaming, you might want to look into a x3d CPU instead. But I get that switching to AMD isn't feasible for you right now.

For my situation, that upgrade would really cost me about $100.
