Is Upgrading from Ryzen 7 3700X to Ryzen 5 5600X a Smart Move?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 3700X on an ASUS Phantom Gaming B550 motherboard with a Radeon RX 6750 XT. I also have 24GB of 2133MHz RAM spread across three sticks. I'm considering picking up two 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz sticks for about £30 each from a reputable source. I'm curious about how much of a performance boost I would get from upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600X. Additionally, is there a good benchmarking site where I can see how these components work together?

I’d say it's a small upgrade in speed and IPC, but you'd lose two cores by switching from the 3700X to the 5600X. In my opinion, it's not really worth it.

Realistically, the best upgrade on AM4 right now would be to go for a 5800XT. The 5800X3D is super overpriced and hard to find. I recently saw one at BestBuy, but it sold out right away. If you can get the 5800XT alongside faster RAM, you’ll be in excellent shape!

There isn't a specific site that’ll show performance based on your exact parts, but you can check out pcpartpicker.com for compatibility info. On the RAM upgrade, going for 2x8 3600MHz sticks will give you a solid performance boost, whether you stick with the 3700X or switch to the 5600X. For reviews comparing the CPUs, I recommend watching channels like Hardware Unboxed or Gamers Nexus on YouTube.

Definitely not worth it for just an upgrade to the 5600X.

I think it’s worth it! The 5600X is significantly faster in single-core tasks and performs similarly in multi-core tasks compared to the 3700X. I switched to the 5600X for my secondary build, and it’s great for modern gaming.
