Is Upgrading My PC Worth It?

I currently have a pretty solid PC setup with an i5-12600K CPU, Z690 motherboard, 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM, and an RTX 3080 graphics card. I also use an 850W power supply and a 1080p 160Hz monitor. Plus, I own a Valve Index VR headset. I'm considering two upgrade options: either buying an RTX 5070 Ti or upgrading to an AM5 B850 motherboard with 32GB DDR5 6000 RAM and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I only have enough budget right now for one of those options. Given my current setup and usage, what do you all think is the best choice?

It's probably not worth upgrading if you're sticking with a 1080p monitor. Your current CPU can still handle AAA games pretty well, so if I had to choose, I'd lean towards the CPU upgrade for future-proofing. Just don’t expect a huge leap in performance at 1080p.

If you were using a higher-resolution monitor, it might make sense to upgrade. For now, I think you should keep your existing setup and wait. Maybe save up for both options later instead.

Yeah, waiting might be the best strategy, considering how fast tech evolves. Better to have a bigger upgrade later!

Honestly, you're in a good spot with your current setup. I wouldn't rush to upgrade, especially since you're on a 1080p monitor. If you really want to enhance your experience, consider upgrading your monitor before jumping into a new GPU or CPU.
