Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU from a Ryzen 5 5600G to a Ryzen 7 5700X. I initially wanted the 5700X3D, but it's out of stock everywhere. Right now, I have an RX 6600 graphics card. Would this upgrade be a significant boost in performance, or am I unlikely to see much difference?

Upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5700X might give you about a 10% performance increase, but honestly, if you're mainly gaming, you might not notice much of a difference unless the price is super low. I’ve seen it for around $120 locally—what do you think?
Honestly, I wouldn’t bother with that upgrade. For a little more money, the Ryzen 7 5800XT is a better deal. Check it out!
I have a solid alternative for you. Instead of going for the 5700X, consider switching your 5600G for a regular 5600. It's got double the L3 cache and supports PCIe 4.0, which could enhance your setup more effectively—then you could also aim for a stronger GPU. Think about selling your 5600G to finance this change!
Thank you for the suggestion! That sounds even better than just swapping the CPU.
For gaming, the upgrade could be pretty marginal since you’re not experiencing any severe CPU bottlenecks with your current setup. If you’re set on upgrading, consider investing in a better GPU down the line instead, like an RX 6800 or 7700XT. It’ll make a more noticeable difference!
Great point! I'll think about that. The Ryzen 7 is tempting since it's on sale, but I want to make sure I prioritize the right upgrade.
Thanks for the insight! I thought that price would be decent, but maybe I should look for a better deal.
