I'm looking to give my old mid-range PC a much-needed upgrade. Right now, I have an Intel i5-6400 and an RX 580, but I recently picked up an RTX 3070, which was a great deal. I want my new motherboard, CPU, and RAM to last me longer. There's a good deal at Micro Center where I can either spend $350 for a Ryzen 7600X with 16GB DDR5-6000 (motherboard included) or around $500-$600 for a combo that includes either a 9700X or a 7800X3D plus 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm wondering if the extra $150 is worth it, especially for the RAM. Will 16GB be enough, or should I invest in 32GB for future-proofing? I don't play extremely demanding games, but I want to be able to enjoy AAA titles at 1080p, 60fps on medium/high settings.

Getting 32GB of RAM is definitely a smart move for the future. In a couple of years, 16GB is going to feel a bit cramped as software demands increase. If your budget allows it, go for 32GB—it'll make a noticeable difference in multitasking and overall performance.
If you can swing it within your budget, the 7800X3D with 32GB RAM sounds like a solid plan. It’ll set you up nicely for the future, especially since gaming will only get more demanding. Plus, that RAM will help a lot with smoother performance now and down the line.
Tough call! Personally, I'd lean towards the 7600X and use the savings for more RAM later. It’ll handle your current setup just fine, and that leads the way for easy future upgrades too. Just ensure whatever RAM you choose now can be expanded on later.
Honestly, the 3070 shouldn’t really push you to invest heavily in an X3D chip or DDR5 at this point. If you aren’t ready to upgrade your GPU anytime soon, maybe stick with a solid 5600 or 7600X instead and save some cash. You can always upgrade later when you've got a more powerful GPU to match it.

Completely agree! It’s more of an investment, but you’ll really appreciate the upgrade. If you want to play at higher settings, it’s a great combo for longevity.
