Is Upgrading to the 5700X3D from a 5600X Worth It?

Hey everyone! I'm currently gaming with a 5600X and a 3070, but I often hit CPU bottlenecks, especially when I enable ray tracing at 1080p. The 5700X3D is the only reasonable upgrade option for me since the 5800X3D is super expensive at about $700 here. Do you think the 5700X3D would give me a noticeable performance boost, or should I save and aim for an AM5 upgrade, even though I'd likely only be able to afford a 7500F or 7600 without 3D cache?

I made the switch to the 5700X3D from a 5600X, and it was a game changer for me—I got more FPS and smoother gameplay. However, you may not see massive frame improvements; it really just steadied my performance. If you can find it for a decent price, I felt it was worth it.

In my opinion, the 5700X3D isn’t worth the money anymore, especially since the prices have gone up. Your GPU's 8GB might be holding you back more than your CPU. Instead of upgrading to that, saving up for a new AM5 setup sounds better, even if it means waiting a bit longer.

That's what I was thinking too! I’d rather invest in something that offers longevity.

Exactly! The future upgrade potential with AM5 is appealing.

Honestly, the 7500F or 7600 would perform similarly to the 5700X3D and they provide a better upgrade path for the future. If you're considering long-term, going AM5 seems like the smarter choice.

That’s a good point! The 7500F is also much cheaper where I live, which makes it appealing.

For sure! Plus, going for AM5 opens up more powerful CPU options down the road.

It sounds like you're dealing with a GPU bottleneck, not just the CPU. Your RTX 3070 is solid, but it struggles with ray tracing, especially at 1080p. The 5700X3D has been discontinued, so be cautious about current prices—they're likely inflated. If you can save for AM5, I’d recommend that route as Ryzen 7600 can match or even exceed 5700X3D's performance in many cases.

I’ve seen similar issues with my setup. If your GPU usage is around 60-70% while the CPU is maxed out, you’re definitely hitting a bottleneck, and it might be worth prioritizing a platform upgrade.

Yeah, I think saving for AM5 is the way to go! It’s a better long-term investment.

If you want a straightforward upgrade without switching platforms, the 5700X3D could work, but don’t expect a significant boost in FPS. I personally got mine at a good deal, right before the prices shot up, and I’m glad I did. If you can wait and save for AM5, that might be the best call.
