Is Using Intel XMP RAM with an AMD CPU a Problem?

Hey everyone! I've been using a set of CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM (32 GB - 2 x 16 GB, 6400 MHz CL36) that has Intel XMP profiles on my ASUS ROG X670E-E motherboard with a 9800x3D CPU for almost three months now without any issues. I just found out that it's Intel XMP RAM, and I'm a bit worried. Should I be concerned about this? Any advice on what I should do?

No worries! Intel XMP RAM should work just as well with your AMD setup. The XMP profiles are just there for overclocking, and AMD systems usually handle them just fine. Just make sure you don't go for four sticks of DDR5 RAM, since that could lead to stability issues. It's always a good practice to check that before upgrading!

You're good to go! Intel-branded RAM works with AMD too. Just remember that if you decide to add more sticks to your RAM, running four sticks might slow down your speeds. You might have to drop to 5000 MHz or even 4800 MHz, so keep that in mind if you're looking to upgrade!

It's really just a branding thing. The XMP profiles shouldn't cause any issues. However, just a heads up: if you do add more RAM sticks, you may have to run them at lower speeds. Always do a bit of research if you plan on increasing the RAM count!

So if I add another kit, I'll likely have to lower the speed? Got it, thanks!
