I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my computer, and I'm trying to download games via Steam to my Samsung 970 EVO PLUS SSD. However, I keep getting a disk write error just a few seconds into the download. This issue happens with other installations too, like Valorant. Previously, I used this SSD as my OS drive, but I experienced a BSOD (Critical Process Died) error, prompting me to switch to a different SSD for the OS and perform a clean install of Windows 10. I've done some troubleshooting, including formatting the drive and changing its letter, running chkdsk, and verifying health with CrystalDiskMark and CrystalDiskInfo, which all report good results. However, when the download fails, the drive disappears from Samsung Magician and shows as RAW in Disk Management. Can anyone help me sort this out? I'm considering requesting an RMA if the problem persists. UPDATE: I was able to install Valorant on my main SSD, which has the OS—so is this an issue specifically with the 970 EVO PLUS?

Try running a more thorough chkdsk with the command `chkdsk /f /r /x` from the command prompt (run as admin). This should check for errors and attempt to repair any issues that might be causing the write failures. Sometimes, the SSD might need some extra love to clear out any stubborn problems.
I know it's frustrating! Just to confirm, your second SSD is working fine as your main OS drive, right? If so, I’d lean towards the possibility of the Samsung SSD having hardware issues. Maybe check the cables too, but if the problems keep up, RMA might be the best bet.
