Issues with My New MacBook Pro Touchpad – Need Help!

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro M4 2024 because my old MacBook Air's LCD broke. I've been saving for ages since I work in graphic design and needed something capable of handling large files. I found a seemingly great deal on a used MacBook from a recommended site. However, just six days in, I'm facing a frustrating issue: the touchpad won't respond to single clicks, but double clicks work fine. It's also getting stuck when I try to click on applications. I'm in a bit of a pinch since I have a lot of freelance work to handle and can't afford to have my new laptop acting up this soon. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for quick fixes or if I should look into getting a refund. I've done some troubleshooting myself, but I could really use your insight. Thanks!

Did you reach out to the retailer about the issues? They might have a quick fix or could let you know about refund options.

Not yet! I was hoping someone here could help me out first. I'll check with them for sure!

What did the shop say when you reached out? Have they given you a timeline for when you might hear back?

I submitted a support ticket, but they said to expect a response in 2-3 business days. I also ran diagnostics, and they flagged a potential issue with the trackpad.

It might be worth checking out Apple’s Certified Refurbished store next time! The prices are usually pretty competitive, and they have a good warranty. Make sure to review MacSales' returns policy too before you decide on what to do.

I did look there as well, but MacSales had it cheaper by a small margin. I'm just trying to save every dollar!
