Hey everyone! I just upgraded from a 4070 OC to a 5070 Ti, hoping for a significant performance boost. However, I'm actually noticing a drop in performance. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, and I have the GPU installed in a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot that supports x4 mode instead of the x16 slot. I'm not at home right now, but I'm looking for insights or suggestions before I get back in a couple of hours. Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: ASUS B650E MAX GAMING WIFI W
- RAM: Team T-Force Delta RGB 32GB
- Power Supply: CORSAIR RMe Series RM850e 850 W ATX 3.1
- GPU: PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti

I totally get it; it's super common for first-time builders to make this mistake. You should really check your manual for the best slots to use—most boards have specific slots that are optimized for performance. Trust me, even seasoned builders need to reference manuals sometimes! It can save you a lot of hassle in the end.
You definitely need to relocate your GPU to the main x16 slot. It sounds like it's struggling for bandwidth right now, and that could explain the performance drop you're experiencing.

Yeah, manuals are actually pretty handy! Learned that the hard way myself after having issues when adding RAM. Glad it’s not just me!
