Issues with Nvidia Drivers Causing Windows Boot Problems

Hey everyone! I just built a PC for my partner, but we're hitting a major roadblock. Each time we try to install the latest Nvidia drivers for an RTX 5070 on Windows 11, the screen goes black halfway through the installation. I initially thought it was just part of the driver update process, but it doesn't improve. The one time we managed to finish the update, the system hung on boot—no BSOD, just the loading throbber endlessly spinning. Has anyone else experienced this or know what to do? I've only used AMD GPUs before, and even their problematic drivers didn't mess with my system like this. Any help would be awesome!

Are you installing the drivers through Windows Update? That's a common issue—definitely try downloading them directly from Nvidia's website instead.

Have you tried reconnecting all the cables? If that doesn't help, you might want to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove any remnants of the previous driver before installing the new one.

You should also check if you can access your system in Safe Mode. From there, look for crash logs in C:WindowsMinidump—those can give useful insights into what's causing the hangs. You can upload those files for further analysis.
