Issues with PDF Printing Leading to Garbage Text

Has anyone experienced problems with PDF printing recently? I've been getting a lot of calls about this from users, and our managed service provider is scratching their heads as well. It seems that since last month, whenever someone tries to print a PDF, it results in printing countless pages filled with what looks like machine code. If you're not quick enough to catch it, you can easily waste an entire tray of paper.

We have various printers, including Toshiba copiers and HP laser printers, and this issue occurs on both types randomly. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the printers, and it sometimes works temporarily, but then the problem returns. The MSP suspects a Windows 11 update caused this but hasn't found a solid fix yet. They tried alternative printer drivers, which helped for a while but didn't solve the issue permanently. I've also tested printing via local and network setups, and the problem persists either way. It's a major hassle given how much our team prints!

I've noticed the same issue with PDF printing on Windows 11—it's like a game of chance! To fix it, try forcing the PCL6 driver instead of using the Microsoft IPP Class driver. Disabling the print spooler RPC over HTTP in the registry might help too, but it's kind of a hit-or-miss situation unfortunately.

So, to clarify, even if a printer shows it's using the PCL6 driver, it could still be reverting to the Microsoft IPP class driver?
