Just Built a PC but It Won’t Boot—Is the Motherboard Dead?

Hey everyone! I just completed building my first PC and ran into a major issue. When I try to power it on, nothing happens at all after holding the power button. I checked for signs of life, but the CPU cooler fan and the motherboard LEDs are completely unresponsive. I've gone through the process of reconnecting all the front panel cables, making sure the 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors are properly seated, reseating my RAM, removing the GPU, and even swapping out the power supply since I accidentally received two from Amazon. I also tried the screwdriver trick on the power and ground pins of the motherboard, but still, nothing worked. The outlet is functioning fine, and the power supply is switched on. I checked the motherboard manual rigorously to ensure the front panel power connector is connected correctly. Just to note, after removing the GPU, I found some scrapes on the motherboard which I'll post a picture of in the comments. Here are my relevant specs:

- CPU: 7800x3d
- Motherboard: TUF B650 E WiFi
- Power Supply: Corsair RM 750
- Case: Lian Li O11 Compact
- RAM: Gskill Flare X5 DDR5

Sometimes just reseating the CMOS battery can do the trick. I had a similar boot issue, and removing the battery for a bit and putting it back helped get everything up and running. It's worth a shot!

I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks for the tip!

If it's a brand new motherboard and there are no powering lights at all, that’s not a good sign. Usually, motherboards have LED indicators that can help you diagnose issues, but if there’s absolutely nothing showing, it might be dead. Have you tested with a different power supply just to rule that out?
