Hey everyone! I just got a job offer in DevOps, but I've been focusing on backend development with .NET. The position involves AWS, and since this is my first opportunity in this field, I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience in DevOps. What should I prepare for? I'm currently studying AWS and would really appreciate any insights on what DevOps responsibilities typically involve.

I'd love to be in your shoes! By the way, is this a campus opportunity? How did you land this position off-campus?

Hey, sorry for the late response! I've been studying hard for this role. A friend actually referred me for this opportunity while I was learning about ASP.NET Core and Web APIs. I believe you’ll also find a great opportunity soon!

Big congrats! Typically, a DevOps role involves a lot of deployment tasks, moving applications from development to production. You’ll need to set up cloud resources, manage permissions, and tackle any deployment pipeline issues that come up. It's also common to handle monitoring for production systems and be on call for any issues that arise. On top of that, you’ll work on system design and strategies for disaster recovery. Expect to get your hands dirty with Kubernetes and other tools too!

Thanks for such a detailed explanation! I'm diving deep into AWS, Docker, and revisiting my Web API course to get ready. Really appreciate your help!
