Last Minute Advice for My New PC Build

Hey everyone! I'm about to upgrade my 6-7 year old PC to an entirely new rig, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about making the right choices. I'm planning to game on everything from competitive shooters to Star Citizen, so I want a higher-end setup. I'm considering a total of 64GB DDR5 CAS 30 RAM and have picked out a motherboard and CPU cooler for some mild overclocking and RAM support. I've decided to try for a mostly single RGB system, after years of experimenting with different lighting setups. I'd appreciate any last-minute insights on if I've overspecified anything or if you think anything could be easily swapped out. I'm also torn between the GeForce RTX 5080 Founder's Edition at Best Buy and a triple fan setup. The FE looks sleek and holds resale value better, but I usually feel more comfortable with the cooling power of triple fans. Your setup looks great! But just to reiterate, for 64GB RAM, go with 32GB x 2. Otherwise, you might face issues with EXPO and speeds. Four sticks can complicate things unnecessarily. I learned this the hard way—trust me!

Thanks! I’ve made the decision for 2x32GB. Now I’ll focus on picking out a nice monitor!

Solid build, but seriously, don’t go for four sticks of RAM if you can help it. You’ll likely run into speed issues and potentially instability. Corsair does have some nice aesthetic kits, but they are just for looks without adding any real performance. Stick with the 2x32GB configuration for optimal performance!

Thanks for confirming what I thought! I decided on 2x32GB. Now onward to finding that monitor!

You should definitely go with two sticks of 32GB instead of four 16GB ones for your RAM. Four sticks can sometimes be tricky and might not run at the speeds you want. Just a heads up—you want stability over aesthetics!
