Looking for a 4K Gaming GPU to Replace My Dead ASRock 7900XT

I've been upgrading my graphics cards over the years, starting from a GTX 970 to a 1070, then to a 3060 Ti, and most recently to a 7900 XT. Unfortunately, the 7900 XT has completely died on me, which is a first for me. It's leaving me a bit uneasy about sticking with AMD, especially since I think the 5070 Ti is a bit overpriced. I'm curious if the 9070 XT is significantly better than the 5070. Are there any brands I should steer clear of? I'd really appreciate any advice you can share!

Definitely go for the 9070 XT! It competes directly with the 5070 Ti, but it offers more VRAM and better performance overall.

Just a thought—RMA your card, then consider selling the replacement if you're set on getting the 9070 XT. You can often find good resale value on GPUs. Do you have any plans for where you'd sell it?

I'm not sure where to sell used GPUs. I think if I could RMA it, I'd be okay, but I'm curious about my options.

First off, you might want to consider getting an RMA for your 7900 XT since it should still be under warranty. Getting a free fix is definitely better than spending more money unless you find you're constantly having issues. If it turns out you have a problem with the replacement card too, then maybe think about upgrading after that.

Yeah, I had no idea that GPUs often have a 3-year warranty, so it's definitely worth checking! Good luck with the RMA.

I wonder if they'll still have any stock for replacements though? Just something to consider.

By the way, how exactly did your 7900 XT die? Were there any warning signs before it failed?

I was playing Rivals when the screen started glitching, then everything just went black. It crashed once before and I had to reinstall the driver to get it recognized again. I switched to my old 1070, and that one works fine. Funny enough, the 7900 had been making whining sounds for a while, but I didn’t think much of it. It was about 2 years and 4 months old.

The 9070 XT really shines in 4K gaming—it's got more VRAM and better performance compared to the 5070. If the 5070 Ti is too rich for your blood, the 9070 XT is a solid choice. Just stay away from off-brand options with poor cooling; brands like Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte are reliable choices. If you're leaning towards Nvidia for reliability, that's a valid consideration too.

Also, for AMD, I’d suggest considering Sapphire, XFX, and PowerColor over Asus or Gigabyte—they tend to have better quality.
