I'm in the market for a new gaming PC and I'm hoping to keep the total cost under $1000. I don't really care about future-proofing; I just want a machine that's good for gaming and work. Any suggestions or recommendations on components? Here's a link to a build I have in mind: [PCPartPicker List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qgWbWc)

I’d recommend swapping the Ryzen 5 5500 for the 5600 for better performance. If you can find a motherboard that supports PCIe 4.0, that would be a great upgrade as well! You can often find the B550 Phantom Gaming for about $20 more, which comes with Wi-Fi and is bundled with DDR4 RAM on Newegg during Black Friday.
Consider cutting costs on your first SSD and the case if you can, and invest that money into a better CPU. A minimum of a Ryzen 5700 would be a smart move for future upgrades.
That cooler you picked is top-notch, though maybe a bit excessive for what you're aiming for. Since it's one of the cheapest options around, that extra $10 isn't a huge deal if you want the quality. 🙂
You really don’t need that aftermarket cooler if you’re starting with a lower-end CPU. Save that cash and put it toward upgrading your CPU or GPU instead; you'll get better overall performance that way!
Definitely go for the 5600 over the 5500 as suggested. Also, have you checked out Facebook Marketplace? There are often some sweet deals on used PCs or parts. For the price you’re looking at, you might save a good chunk of change by buying locally instead.
