Looking for a Lightweight Linux Distro with Touchscreen Support for Surface Pro 3

I'm trying to find a lightweight Linux distribution that's touch-friendly for my Surface Pro 3, which has an Intel i3 4th gen processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. I've used Linux before, so I'm open to Arch-based options, but I really need something that just works right out of the box. This laptop is primarily for school, and I don't want to risk losing any data if something goes wrong. Touchscreen support is essential since I don't have a keyboard for this device.

You might want to check out Pardus. It's a Debian-based distro designed specifically for touchscreen devices, especially those with limited hardware. The ETAP version is well-optimized and comes with useful features like an on-screen keyboard.

I had good experiences running Aurora OS on my Surface Pro 4; they have a version tailored for Surface devices that works great with touch inputs.

I recommend trying Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop environment. It's easy to install, has built-in touchscreen support, and generally works well right out of the box.
