I'm about to get an Asus Prime OC 9070 XT that needs 3x8-pin connectors, and I'm on the hunt for a reputable 850W power supply that fits my budget of $110 or less. Ideally, I'm looking for an A-tier 80+ gold PSU that comes with all the necessary cables so I can avoid using adapters or daisy-chaining. I've done some research but could use help since I'm not the best at picking out PC parts. Here are the options I considered, but I'm unsure if they meet my criteria:
- Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 850W (B-tier, not A-tier, has cables but a bad rep)
- be quiet PURE POWER 12 M 850W (A-tier, but lacks enough cables for the GPU)
- CORSAIR RM850e (A-tier, also lacks sufficient cables)
- MONTECH Century II (pricing looks good at $85, but I'm unsure on tier rating and cable count)
- Lian Li EDGE GOLD 850W (A-tier and seems to have enough cables, but not sure if it fits in my Montech XR tower)
If you know of any other PSUs that match my needs or can clarify about these, please let me know. Thanks!

I suggest going for the be quiet PURE POWER 12 M. I just built a rig with it and I think it's a solid choice, though you might need to get extra cables separately since it doesn't come with enough for the 9070 XT.
I’ve had great experiences with the Corsair RM850x. It has loads of cables and is usually a bit over budget at around $130, but it does go on sale sometimes! Definitely worth keeping an eye on it.
Yeah, that’s pushing my budget for a PSU too.
Seasonic Focus GX is another solid choice. It's built to last—good quality and very quiet, which is a plus!
I actually have one that works fine with just 2 8-pin cables connected. You can daisy-chain one 8 pin if you're concerned about the connectivity. I mentioned this in a video on installing the 9070 XT.
Same question! What PSU did you go with? Is daisy-chaining a performance loss?
Could I get the link to that video? And what PSU are you using? Does daisy-chaining mess with the 9070 XT performance?
Had the Lian Li EDGE GOLD 850W for a bit. It could be tough to plug cables in if your case doesn’t have the right airflow or mounts the PSU fan down. Still, it has a nice removable dust filter and fan hub. Currently using a Corsair RM850x myself with an RTX 5080, and I think they’re awesome.
I'm using the Montech XR ATX mid-tower, how does that work with the PSU?
What made you switch from the Lian Li?
Are you using it with the 9070 XT that needs those 3x8-pins?
