Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Quest 3 for PCVR but I need an upgrade. I've got a laptop with an RTX 3070, which served me well during engineering school, but it's not cutting it for VR anymore. I want to move to a desktop and I'm hoping to keep my budget under $2000. My goal is to enjoy VR gaming while also being able to record and stream at the same time. I don't need to max out all the graphics settings; I just want something that runs smoothly and looks decent. Any advice on what kind of build I should go for?

If you're based in the US, you might want to check out Micro Center's bundles. You can get a solid motherboard, CPU, and DDR5 RAM combo for a great price. A good build would be around a 7800X3D or 9800X3D CPU paired with an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or an AMD Radeon RX 9070. Throw in a good 850W PSU, a nice case that you like, an AIO cooler, a 2TB SSD, and some extra fans. This setup should run you about $1500-$1800 and give you great performance for the next 4-5 years. Just avoid Asrock or Asus motherboards for now; they've had some issues recently.
Here's a quick parts list I put together for you: [PCPartPicker List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bhw7FZ).
Here's a parts list that fits around your budget:
- **AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D**
- **Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE CPU Cooler**
- **Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WIFI6E Motherboard**
- **32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 RAM**
- **Crucial 2TB NVMe SSD**
- **MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB**
- **An attractive ATX Mid Tower Case**
- **Montech 1050W Gold Certified PSU**
This build totals around $1860 and is great for gaming and content creation. Just remember to check the latest prices and availability!
If you plan to record and stream, definitely go with the 5070 Ti for better performance while multitasking.
Cool, thanks for these suggestions! That durability and resale value is a nice point I didn’t even consider!
