Hey everyone! I'm about to dive into my first complete gaming PC build. I've done a few upgrades in the past, but this is a whole new ballgame for me. Here's what I'm planning to use:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core
- **CPU Cooler**: NZXT Kraken Elite 420 RGB 2025
- **Motherboard**: MSI MPG X870E CARBON WIFI ATX AM5
- **RAM**: Kingston FURY Beast RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
- **Storage**: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 1 TB and a 4TB drive (separating Windows from my games)
- **GPU**: MSI VENTUS 3X OC GeForce RTX 5090 (the only component I've purchased so far, keen to keep it unless it's a bad choice)
- **Case**: NZXT H9 Flow RGB+ (2025) ATX Mid Tower
- **PSU**: Corsair HX1200i 1200 W 80+
I'm looking for feedback on my selected parts. Are they solid choices? Any glaring errors I should fix before buying everything? My budget is somewhat flexible, but I don't want to go overboard unless it's absolutely necessary. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Looks like you’ve got high-quality components across the board! You should be good to go. Just ensure compatibility, especially with the motherboard and CPU. Overall, it's a solid list for gaming!
You might want to reconsider a few parts, though. For example, that AIO cooler is pretty pricey and a standard cooler could offer similar performance for less. Also, your motherboard and RAM seem overkill for gaming—64GB is way more than most games need right now. You could save quite a bit by downgrading those options. Your GPU is nice but maybe check if a less expensive version offers the same performance. You can still achieve a great setup without breaking the bank!
Thank you for that! I see your point about the overspending. I'll definitely look into the alternatives, especially since I'm in the UK and prices can vary.
Agreed with the last commenter! While everything you chose is top-notch, several parts don't justify their price over cheaper options. I put together a similar build for significantly less—essentially the same specs without the premium components. For example, a more affordable cooling solution and a different motherboard could save you hundreds, while still performing well for gaming. Honestly, you’re paying a lot for little to no benefits in a gaming scenario.
Thanks for the input! I’m set on a few components, but I appreciate the cooling suggestions and will check them out. I'll be focusing on UK prices, so your suggestions are really handy!
Thanks! I appreciate the reassurance. I'm just nervous since it’s a big investment for me.
