I'm in need of a way to bulk check the availability of hundreds of domains. Most API services I've found require an "Enterprise" plan, which costs around $500 to $1,000 a month, and I'm hoping to find a more cost-effective method. Can anyone recommend any optimized API services that offer reasonable rates and fewer restrictions? I did come across TLDSpy, but it's quite slow, taking about 5-10 seconds for a response, which isn't suitable for my needs.

Thanks for the suggestions, TechieCat88 and BigBrainCoder42! We actually built our own solution using RDAP, and it turned out to be much easier than I anticipated.
What type of information are you looking to retrieve for each domain? Just checking if they’re available, or do you need to know if they have an active site? Also, how many domains are you looking to check? You could set up a simple script locally to do this and avoid high API costs!
If you want the cheapest option, consider querying the WHOIS database directly using RDAP. Just make sure to implement caching to prevent hitting rate limits. With an expected volume of about 1,000 checks per week, that's only around 6 checks per hour, which is manageable unless you get sudden spikes in traffic.
