Looking for Alternatives to Cloud-Based Remote Access Solutions

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind with my current remote access solution. BeyondTrust, which took over Bomgar, is forcing everyone into cloud and subscription models, which I'm not a fan of. My recent renewal for the on-prem Bomgar appliance revealed they're phasing out perpetual licensing and pushing for a cloud subscription instead. I'm pretty disappointed with this trend in corporate greed where everyone's moving to subscription-based models, so I'm on the hunt for alternatives.

I need a solution that allows multiple IT staff to provide support concurrently (around 5-10 agents) and can handle 500-1000 remote devices running Windows and Linux. While a hardware device would be okay, it would be great if the management/server could run as a virtual machine. I'd love to hear any recommendations or experiences with other products! Thanks in advance!

You might want to check out Connectwise Control (previously ScreenConnect). I've been a user for nearly a decade and absolutely love it. It's reliable and easy to use!

If you want something strictly on-premise, check out ManageEngine's remote desktop management tool. It's Windows-based and your IT staff will appreciate its underlying services and command management features.

Have you considered EasyRemote by Septeo? It’s a great option for what you’re looking for. Also, Wallix Remote Access might be worth a look.

Splashtop is another option, though it does follow a cloud-based subscription model. Just a heads up!

I recommend looking into MeshCentral. I’ve run my own instance, and while the original creator has moved on, there's a solid team keeping it updated. It handles a decent number of remote devices effectively, especially if your endpoints are on a secure intranet or VPN.

Thanks! I’ll definitely include it in my research and testing.
