I've been using my setup from 2018 with a Ryzen 5 2600 and GTX 1070, but I'm starting to feel its limitations, especially while in nursing school. I'm considering upgrading my GPU and CPU while sticking with my current motherboard and RAM since I can't afford a full rebuild right now. For 1440p gaming, I'm eyeing options like a 2080 Ti or a 3070/80 because they're priced around $200-250 locally. I was also contemplating the Ryzen 7 5700 as it seems affordable. However, I'm not super confident in my hardware knowledge, so I'd appreciate suggestions for future-proofing my setup. I could wait until school is done to invest more, but any quick upgrades that make sense would be great!

I wouldn't recommend the Ryzen 5 5700 because it's basically a repackaged laptop CPU that lacks some serious features like PCIe 4 and has a reduced L3 cache. You're better off looking at the Ryzen 5 5600 or even the 5700X/5800X if your motherboard can handle it. If your motherboard is pretty old, upgrading to an LGA1700 board could be a better long-term investment!

Okay great! I will not get those then and look into the others lol, I had no idea. Might look into a new motherboard too, this one is a couple years old now.
