Looking for an Offline Alternative to OneNote on Linux

I'm really trying to make the switch to Linux, but OneNote is the last app keeping me from doing so. I need a solution that works offline since I've had some frustrating experiences with alternatives. I've already tried using Wineboat, which drained my battery significantly, and p3x OneNote, but that doesn't work offline. I also attempted to install OneNote with Bottles, but that was a no-go. The main reasons I'd like to stick with OneNote are that I really use the 'write anywhere on the page' feature a lot and about a third of my notes consist of equations. I'm hoping to find a workaround or a suitable alternative that maintains these functionalities.

An older version of OneNote might run on Wine, especially something like OneNote 2007. Recent versions seem to be a bust with Wine. Have you thought about trying to import files from OneNote 2019 into an older version?

You can write equations using Joplin with KaTeX. If you’ve given it a shot and didn’t find it usable, it might be tricky to find something else that fits your needs. Honestly, you might have to explore a bit more.

What exactly are you looking for in OneNote? Could you give us a bit more detail on what features you rely on? This might help point you toward a better alternative.

I took a look at WineDB, and it doesn’t look too hopeful. Have you considered using a web-based solution like Office 365? But I get it, the web stuff isn’t really an option if you need offline access. I'm personally trying to distance myself from Microsoft too; I just don’t trust them with my data anymore.
