Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i5 4690k and GTX 970 with 12GB of RAM, a build I put together about 8 years ago. I'm thinking of upgrading to something more modern, specifically a Ryzen 5 5600, an RTX 3070, and 32GB of RAM. I plan on keeping my case, power supply, and storage but might invest in a new NVMe SSD for the boot drive. Since it's been a while since my last build, are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of? I remember there was a BIOS issue with Ryzen motherboards a while back—does that still exist?

What’s your budget looking like? It helps to figure out the best options for your build.
Honestly, I’d be cautious about using a power supply from 2014 unless it's a top-tier unit. If it has a 10-12 year warranty, you might be okay, but I’d suggest considering keeping your old system intact and selling it as a complete package to fund a fresh build. Just a thought!
That PSU is a CX650M and has been reliable for you, so it might work. But a new build could really stack up the costs.
Right? Selling old components usually nets you less. Buying new ones is often much pricier!
Price is definitely a big factor. If you decide to keep the old case, just double-check that the new graphics card will fit. They’re getting pretty long these days!
Good point! I looked up my case, and it's a Corsair Carbide 100R, should have enough space.

Around £500. I’m budgeting £80 for RAM, £120 for the CPU, and about £200 for the 3070. Still need to decide on a motherboard. Do you know the difference between B450 and B550?
