Looking for CPU and Motherboard Upgrade Recommendations

Hey everyone! I need some advice on upgrading my motherboard and CPU, which I've been using for over six years. I have a budget of up to $300 for each component. I'm also planning to upgrade my graphics card in the next six months. Here's my current setup for reference: I'm using an Intel Core i7-8700K CPU at 3.70GHz with 32GB of dual-channel RAM. My motherboard is an MSI Z370-A PRO, and I have a GeForce RTX 2080 GPU. I'm also making sure everything fits in a medium-sized case. Let me know what you think I should go for!

You don't actually need to spend the full $300 on a motherboard. If you're looking to get a good CPU that's around that price, you'll want to consider getting DDR5 RAM as well for the latest generation stuff. All in all, budgeting around $600 total might be the best way to go. You could get a 7800X3D with a B650 or B850 motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 RAM for that price.

Based on your $600 budget for both the CPU and motherboard, I think your best bet is the AMD 7800X3D combined with a B650 motherboard. It should cost around $500 to $600, and don't forget you'll likely need new DDR5 RAM sticks too—around $100 for decent 2x16GB 6000MHz ones. If you're looking to save some cash, you might consider the 7700X, which is cheaper than the 7800X3D, but I really recommend the X3D if you can swing it!
