Hey everyone! I'm searching for a free alternative to AutoCAD that works on Linux. Ideally, I'd like to be able to open and save files in the AutoCAD format as well. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Check out LibreCAD and FreeCAD! They both handle 2D designs well, and FreeCAD even supports 3D modeling, which is pretty great if that’s something you’re into.
If you don't need 3D rendering, definitely look into LibreCAD! It’s user-friendly for 2D work, and it’s free, which is a big plus.
Just a heads-up, AutoCAD's DWG files can be tricky with some free software. If you’re open to 3D designs, FreeCAD and Onshape are solid options, but it all depends on your specific needs.
You might want to consider GStarCAD as an option. Just remember, if you’re focusing on technical drawings for work, the alternatives might be a bit harder to adapt to.
