Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle with my current GPU, and I'm thinking about upgrading. Here's what I'm working with:
- **CPU**: Ryzen 7 5700X
- **GPU**: RX 5500 XT 8GB
- **RAM**: 24GB DDR4
- **Budget**: around 55,000 BDT (approximately $448 USD)
Now, I'm not looking to upgrade for gaming. I'm focusing more on:
- **Game Development**: I'm trying out Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot, making some mini games.
- **Learning AI/ML**: I'm a new Computer Science student diving into AI and Machine Learning.
I do buy games occasionally, but I barely have time to actually play them, so gaming performance is the least of my worries.
Here are the GPUs I'm considering:
- **RTX 4060 8GB** (around 45K BDT or ~$367 USD): It's mostly out of stock, and I have some thoughts on it below.
- **RX 7600 8GB** (around 34K BDT or ~$278 USD): Only the PowerColor version seems to be available.
- **Intel Arc B580 12GB** (price ranges from 34.5K to 39.5K BDT, or ~$281–$322 USD): Two variants to choose from:
- **GUNNIR B580 Index 12GB GDDR6 (around $281)**
- **GUNNIR B580 Photon 12GB OC GDDR6 (Black/White) at ~$322**
I'm leaning towards the Intel Arc B580 because of the extra VRAM, but I'm not sure about its driver stability and how well it would work with development tools. I just wish I could find out if it's going to improve with future software updates!
The **RTX 4060** pricing seems outrageous lately 😟, plus it's hard to find, and the available brands (like Colorful, Maxsun, MSI) are mostly overpriced. The **RTX 4060 Ti** is about $100 more, and for brands like ASUS or MSI, I'd be looking at an extra $180–$200, which isn't feasible for me right now. Any advice?

You might want to check out the PowerColor RX 9060 XT. It’s priced similarly to the RTX 4060 but offers 16GB of VRAM, which could really help with your AI/ML projects and game development. Definitely worth considering!
For your AI and ML work, any modern GPU should be fine for basic tasks. But having more VRAM is better, especially for image generation tasks. Just so you know, the RTX 4000 series is out of production right now, which explains the shortage and higher prices.
Exactly! It’s frustrating, but if you can find a good deal on something with more VRAM, it’ll definitely pay off in the long run!
I've been looking at that card too! The extra VRAM sounds great for development. Planning to see some benchmarks before deciding.
