Hey everyone! I have an older PC with an i7-4790 processor, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, a GTX 660 graphics card, and a 600W power supply. I enjoy playing online games, but I really want to get into some of the newer titles, which has been a struggle with my current setup. Additionally, I do a lot of web development work and frequently use Docker and Kubernetes. I'm not particularly loyal to either Intel or AMD, but I'm interested in the latest generation, either Zen 5 or Core Ultra, if I decide to build a new system. My budget is up to $1700. I'm looking for advice on whether I should upgrade my existing PC or go for a completely new build. Thanks!

Definitely build new instead of upgrading. If you have a Microcenter nearby, that could also help you save some cash! Are you near one?
If you're leaning towards a new build, I can share that I put together a setup with a 9700X, 32GB of 6000MHz RAM, and a 9070 Challenger for just under your budget last December. With current prices, you might want to check out AMD bundle deals, especially those with dual-channel RAM kits—they can offer great performance for gaming and development.
Honestly, I'd go for a new build. Most of the components you've mentioned are just too outdated to keep. With $1700, you can assemble a really solid gaming rig that will serve you well for both gaming and development tasks. Plus, you might be able to reuse your case.

Unfortunately, I’m not close to a Microcenter. Thanks for the suggestion though!
