Looking for Insights on DX (GetDX) for Measuring Developer Productivity

Our company is exploring tools to gain better visibility into our engineering team, which has grown rapidly to around 200 engineers. Leadership is emphasizing the need for metrics around productivity, developer satisfaction, and the ROI for our recently implemented AI coding tools. Currently, we're lacking these insights, which is complicating our budget discussions.

We've been demoing GetDX and it appears promising, but I would love to hear real feedback from anyone who has used it or evaluated it. How is the implementation process? Does it genuinely provide valuable insights, or is it just another dashboard that goes unnoticed? We've also looked into Jellyfish and LinearB, but GetDX keeps coming up in our discussions.

For context, our team uses GitHub, Jira, and Slack, with about half of our developers utilizing Copilot. I'm trying to determine if investing in GetDX is worthwhile or if we should consider developing an in-house solution.

Has anyone had experience with GetDX or gone through a similar evaluation process? What influenced your decision? Thanks in advance!

I don't have experience with GetDX, but I wonder if your approach might be missing the mark. If you're expecting data-driven insights, shouldn’t you first define the metrics and baselines that leadership will actually care about? Finding a tool would be more effective after knowing exactly what you need, or it might just end up as another dashboard that no one looks at.

Have you considered using DevLake instead? It's open source and designed around DORA metrics. I wouldn't go for a custom internal tool; I tried that once, and getting continuous funding for maintenance is a huge challenge.

They also provide access to raw data, which is great for transparency. The recommendations they give can really help team leads who aren't experts yet in improving metrics.

Our team just started using GetDX, so I can't share too much yet. However, I like that you can compare your metrics with other companies since they have a solid database for that.
