Hey everyone! I'm planning to update the operating system on my laptop that I usually use for gaming. Unfortunately, it's become quite problematic recently, and I'm feeling the urge to dive back into Linux distributions like it's early 2020 again. I've tried using Linux before, but it didn't go well due to some challenges. So, I'm reaching out with a few questions:

1. What Linux distros would you recommend for a gaming and everyday use setup? I know this question gets asked a lot, but I would appreciate any fresh suggestions.

2. What drivers should I look into for my specific laptop model (MSI Katana 17 B12VGK-275XRU)?

3. Could someone provide a guide on how to play games on Linux, particularly both cracked and officially purchased games from Steam, as well as emulators?

I'm looking for a distro that supports gaming and is suitable for other activities like watching movies and videos. Just a note: I'd prefer to keep my desktop Windows only for certain tasks I need to handle.

I’d recommend trying out Nobara or Garuda Linux—they’re both popular choices for gaming. But honestly, you can tweak pretty much any distro to suit your gaming needs. Personally, I use Manjaro for both gaming and daily tasks, and it works great! Just download Steam through the package manager of your chosen distro, and you'll be set. For playing pirated games, I find the Heroic Game Launcher works best for .exe files, along with Lutris for a broader range of games. Hope this helps you out!

Nobara is a solid option too. Also, don't overlook Cachy-OS; it's based on Fedora and might have the gaming performance you’re after.
