Looking for Recommendations on Asset Management Tools for a Large Inventory

Hi everyone! We're currently trying to manage a tech inventory that includes about 400 laptops, 300 mobile phones, 100 iPads, plus a variety of servers and printers. Right now, we're relying on spreadsheets, which is definitely less than ideal.

We currently use Freshservice for our service desk, and I'm considering extending it for asset management, but I'm unsure if it's the best choice. We're searching for a tool that can not only track the hardware lifecycle of all these devices (like laptops, phones, servers, and printers) but ideally also handle software licenses and contracts. It would be great if the solution has a smooth rollout process that doesn't take months. Scalability is also important since we intend to expand internationally.

Has anyone here tried the asset management features of Freshservice? I'd love to hear your thoughts, both pros and cons!

For a comprehensive tool, Workwize might be worth checking out. It manages assets well across regions and integrates with systems like Jamf and Okta. They also have features for the entire lifecycle, so no need for spreadsheets!

If you're looking for a fast setup, consider Reftab. They have a ton of integrations to help import your devices quickly, and you can connect it to Entra or Okta for software license tracking, which can be done in just a couple of minutes.

I personally use Freshservice for asset management. It's good for tracking devices, but I have to warn you: they tried charging for every manually inputted device, which caused some confusion. They rolled that back, but make sure to talk to your rep about any potential costs down the line. Overall though, I've had a pretty good experience with it.

Take caution with Freshservice; I feel like they've been unclear about any upcoming charges.

I recommend trying out Snipe-IT; it's pretty good for managing assets.

Lansweeper is another solid choice for asset management. It covers a lot of ground, especially for managing devices in multiple locations.
