Looking for Recommendations on UI/UX Design Resources

Hey everyone! I'm diving into the world of UI/UX design as I transition into web development after spending 20 years in IT. While I'm comfortable with coding and can grasp most front-end elements, my websites often end up looking a bit blocky and outdated. I'm eager to learn the essential principles to make my designs more appealing—like effective use of color palettes and creating visually interesting layouts that might include animations and transitions. I remind myself that "less is more" since I sometimes go overboard and end up with sites that feel too busy. Can you share any great books, channels, or videos that have helped you?

I found the book Refactoring UI to be incredibly helpful! It completely changed my approach as a front-end developer. It's packed with practical insights that can really elevate the look of your designs.

I was just about to mention that! You can't go wrong with that one. Also, 'Don't Make Me Think' is another great read, though it’s a bit older. I'm curious if there are newer resources available too.

If you haven't read it yet, 'The Design of Everyday Things' by Don Norman is a classic that still offers timeless insights. Also, check out the Smashing Magazine newsletter for some solid UX and coding resources!
